Pastor's Corner
As we Travel Life's Way...
Many ask from other people or check maps for the directions to the places they want to go. Others just retrieve from the computer the maps and directions to their destinations. Better still, increasing numbers of travelers get to their destinations under the dictation of some instruments such as the Campus or the Global Positioning System (GPS). However, several people still get lost, despite the fact that technology has made the locating of places much easier.
It is true that they also needed directions to certain places during Jesus' time. You remember Jesus giving instructions to two of his disciples: "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. Say to the owner of the house he enters, 'The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?'" Mark 14:13, 14 (NIV).
The man carrying a jar of water was a sign for the two disciples to lead them to the house where Jesus would meet with his disciples. This sign served to motivate the two disciples on their way. It made their search for the place less cumbersome. By seeing the sign Jesus described, the disciples developed confidence in Jesus and His word. On the other hand, the man carrying the water had no idea what was going on, but he remained on his mission.
Indeed, there may be someone whom we are not aware of, yet is looking at us for directions to come to the Savior. What an exciting and encouraging experience one can have, when one sees in you the sign of what Jesus' follower should be, "a loving and loveable Christian." As we travel life's way, our behavior, conduct, and positivie attitude, can attract many to the Teacher!
